Medicinal Hot Waters
Medicinal waters and hot springs are described as external methods which help to cure many disorders in Sowa Rigpa. There are mainly five types of medicinal healing waters and five types of natural hot springs.
Due to different mineral combination, mineral spring waters produce different tastes and effects on the body and mind. These waters help to pacify imbalances of three humors, blood and lymph disorders such as arthritis, as well as mild and chronic stomach disorders. They balance the mind and give strength to the body.
Hot spring waters are heated by underground coal and other mineral combinations. The power of the fire brings up the boiled hot water, which becomes hot spring water. Hot spring waters are mainly used to cure rheumatism, arthritis, osteoporoses, various skin disorders, neurological, Phlegm (Badken) and chronic Wind disorders. It provides relief from the pain of stressed muscles and tired joints. . Bathing in hot springs gradually increases the temperature of the body, thus killing harmful germs and viruses. Heat also increases the blood circulation and cell oxygenation, which further helps to dissolve and eliminate toxins from the body. Increase of the flow of oxygen-rich blood throughout the body brings nourishment to the vital and vessel organs and tissues. Bathing in natural hot spring waters increases metabolism, thus aiding digestion. Various trace minerals in those waters, which are absorbed through the skin pores, not only nourish the body but also give mental relaxation, thus are beneficial for fatigue and insomnia.
The minerals in those waters have positive therapeutic effects on skin diseases, such as eczema, diaper rash, dry scalp, women`s diseases, asthma, neuralgia, arteriosclerosis, hemorrhoids, rheumatisc, shoulder, neck and wrist pains, they join the broken bones, stop diarrhea and clean the energy from negative influence.
